Who would have thought? The young man who joined the conversation class a year ago, the young man who was very nervous in his first class, is the same man who then became the first winner of LIA Pramuka’s Student Competition of SAY category.
Nofrizal is his name. Born in Prabumulih on November 11, 1986, Nofrizal or Opik is an employee of Directorate General of Taxes where he has been working for four years. While working as a government employee, Nofrizal joined LIA Pramuka in Conversation class program to improve his English. When he was in CV6, LIA Pramuka held Student Competitions for all LIA Pramuka’s students to commemorate LIA’s 50th anniversary. Nofrizal then became the representative of his class to compete with other students in LIA Pramuka.
Nofrizal managed to become the best 10 finalists of SAY participants. The guy who likes reading and doing sports like cycling, futsal, and basketball was very confident on the final competition. He presented his speech well. His hardwork was paid off. Nofrizal became the first winner of SAY category in LBPP LIA Pramuka beating the other 9 best finalists and dozen others CV and High Intermediate students.
As the first winner of LBPP LIA Pramuka for SAY category, Nofrizal became LIA Pramuka’s representative to compete in the national competition. He had to face the other representatives from 45 branches. He had to compete with the best from all over Indonesia. On October 8, 2009, during Yayasan LIA’s Halal Bihalal event, Nofrizal was announced as the third winner of the National Student Competitions!
Nofrizal, the boy from Prabumulih and a graduate of STAN, has made all of us in LIA Pramuka very proud. He shows us that with hardwork we can conquer any obstacles. When he won the prize, who would have thought that a year ago he was just a new student struggling with his English? If Nofrizal can do it, so can all of us!
