Every July and January, LBPP LIA Pramuka starts a new semester for EC classes. This July 2009 is the new semester I/09-10 for our English for Children students. In this Semester I/09-10, LBPP LIA Pramuka accepted around 100 new students for various levels, from EC 1A to EC 6A.
With the many new students that LBPP LIA Pramuka has, LIA Pramuka hopes to build close relationship with the students and their parents. In order to do that, LIA Pramuka held Parents’ Meeting on July 25, 2009.
The meeting was opened by the Branch Manager, Mr. David Simanjuntak. Mr. David opened the meeting by greeting the parents and then gave explanations about EC curriculum. He also explained LIA’s beliefs about young learners and theoritical backgrounds for our EC curriculum. Besides the explanations of EC program by the Branch Manager, there were also performances by our new students and games for parents and students.
During the performance sessions, the students confidently sang songs, did jazz chants, and danced. They also happily participated in the games. After doing some performances dan crossworld puzzle, the parents were grouped to participate in a game of rearranging story. In this game, parents -helped by their children- had to arrange a story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. This game can give parents some ideas on what the students do in class. After the game, EC Coordinator gave some explanations about the rules and regulations of EC program.
LBPP LIA Pramuka hopes by having this meeting with parents both parties will have a close relationship in the future.
