Commemorating Yayasan LIA 50th Anniversary, LBPP LIA is conducting a National Student Competitions in all the branches all over Indonesia. This event is conducted to ask our students to celebrate the anniversary by taking part in the competitions. This event is also aimed to give chances for the students to show their ability in English language.
LBPP LIA Pramuka itself will have its grand final on Saturday, 15 July, 2009. Before the final, selection process are done for each category in every class starting from the third week of July to the second week of August. Every student are welcome to join this festivities.
There are 4 categories in these competitions:
1. SAY for Intermediate 3-HI4 students and CV 4-6 students.
2. SPEAK for Elementary 1-Intermediate 2 students and CV 1-3 students.
3. TESTIFY for ET students.
4. TALK for EC students.
The features of each category is as follow:
1. SAY (Speech and Essay of LIA Youth): Participants are to create a creative 7-minute presentation based on five given topics. The winner from the branch will have to write a 1500-word essay. The topic for the essay should not be the same as the topic for the presentation (from the five given topics).
2. SPEAK (Spontaneous Expressions of LIA folks): Participants are to give spontaneous talk about a picture given. Participants can generate a lot of topics from the picture and make a short talk about the picture.
3. TESTIFY (Testimony of LIA Teens): Participants are to tell a story in three to five minutes using aids e.g. pictures, real objects, photos, sketches etc.
4. TALK (Tales of LIA Kids): Participants are to retell a story. The story used should be an Indonesian folktale. Participants are given 3 to 5 minutes to tell the story.
The winners of each category will compete in the national selection. The winners of LBPP LIA Pramuka will compete against other winners from all the branches all over Indonesia. The best participants from all over Indonesia will be invited to the celebration of Yayasan LIA’s anniversary in October 2009, not to forget the prizes they will get later!
Is that all the winners will get? No.
Participants from SAY category has an opportunity to be LIA’s representatives in the International Youth Forum in October 2009 in Jakarta! After the national judges observe the winners of SAY category from all the branches, the judges will then choose 20 best participants to be sent to the International Youth Forum in October 2009. Exciting, isn’t it?
